Private tutor in Sterling, VA
University of Wisconsin-Madison - BS, Biochemistry , Virginia Commonwealth University - PhD, Microbiology & Immunology
I have attended UW Madison and Virginia Commonwealth University. During my work study at VCU for my PhD, I chose to teach an introductory course of biology-lab. This was my first exposure to teaching and when I fell in love. My students were a bit apprehensive to warming up to my style of teaching--since it involved explaining the subject in detail and promoting independence as a learner--but through the course, they came around and realized the high level of comprehension gained was helping them through their labs. Later, I began teaching lab techniques to summer students as I completed a fellowship at NIH. My students were very pleased with my method of teaching and made use of my availability to their needs, as necessary. With my preference towards the biological sciences, reading, and writing, I would love to share the knowledge that I have and provide you with the help you need with a subject. Outside of tutoring, I like reading, playing tennis, and running.
